Han Solo is the quintessential scoundrel: reckless, confident, and operating best when flying by the seat of his pants. In Fate Accelerated (FAE), capturing Han isn't about tracking equipment weight or exact blaster specs, it is about leaning into high-stakes risk, bold improvisations, and constantly dealing with bad luck turning into great stories.
Below, we break down how to build and play Star Wars’ favorite smuggler, complete with a table-ready stat block.
Aspect Breakdown
High Concept: Corellian Smuggler with Questionable Clients This defines who Han is at his core. It gives you permission to invoke his background when navigating underground trade routes, dealing with shady fixers, or pulling off risky space maneuvers.
Trouble: 50,000 Credit Bounty from Jabba the Hutt A great Trouble always gives the GM fuel. Whenever Han tries to lie low, this aspect invites bounty hunters to crash the party at the absolute worst moment (giving you a sweet Fate Point in return).
Captain of the Millennium Falcon This signature Aspect ties Han directly to his famous freighter. Use it to overcome piloting obstacles or justify impossible repairs mid-flight.
"I'm In It for the Money" Han pretends he only cares about the payout. Invoke this when haggling for rewards or pushing through danger for a big score, or let the GM compel it when your mercenary nature gets you into hot water with idealists.
"You Like Me Because I'm a Scoundrel" Captures his charismatic, fast-talking swagger. Great for creating advantages during social confrontations or charming your way out of tight spots.
Choosing Approaches
Han doesn't plan ahead, nor does he rely on brute strength; he relies on flair, speed, and deviousness.
Flashy (+3): Han thrives on bold maneuvers, making scenes, and drawing attention to draw fire away from his friends.
Quick (+2) & Sneaky (+2): Quick reflexes in a blaster fight are vital, while Sneaky reflects his illicit background, smuggling compartments, and cheap tricks.
Careful (+1) & Clever (+1): Han relies more on luck and gut feeling than precise planning or technical intellect.
Forceful (+0): Intimidation through raw muscle isn't his primary style; he'd rather out-shoot or out-talk you.
Character Sheet
HAN SOLO
HIGH CONCEPT: Corellian Smuggler with Questionable Clients
TROUBLE: 50,000 Credit Bounty from Jabba the Hutt ASPECTS:
Captain of the Millennium Falcon
"I'm In It for the Money"
"You Like Me Because I'm a Scoundrel"
APPROACHES:
Good (+3): Flashy
Fair (+2): Quick, Sneaky
Average (+1): Careful, Clever
Mediocre (+0): Forceful
STUNTS:
Shoot First: Because I don't wait around for trouble, I gain a +2 when using Quick to attack with a blaster in the first round of physical conflict.
Never Tell Me the Odds: Because I am a reckless pilot, I gain a +2 when I Flashily Create an Advantage or Overcome while flying through hazardous environments.
Bad Feeling About This: Because of my street-smart intuition, once per scene I can use Clever instead of Careful to Notice an impending trap or surprise ambush.
GM & Player Tips: Running Han at the Table
Invoking for Success: Spend a Fate Point on "Captain of the Millennium Falcon" when pulling off a desperate evasion maneuver, or invoke "You Like Me Because I'm a Scoundrel" when trying to talk an imperial officer into letting you pass.
Compel Hooks for GMs: Offer Han’s player a Fate Point via 50,000 Credit Bounty whenever a simple job gets complicated by local mercenaries tracking his ship down.
Stunt Synergies: Pair Shoot First with a high Quick (+2) in the opening exchange of a fight to gain an immediate advantage before your opponents can react.
